(J\4.) WELLINGTON, July 15.. The university authorities wanted to obtain increased salaries for collegeheads because they had in mind the bringing of men from overseas to fill posts. To do this they would have t» offer higher wages. This was stated by Professor A. H. Tocker, in answer to a question by Mr Justice Tyndal, iu the Court of Arbitration during his evidence on the Federation of Labour’ll wage claims ‘ • ’ His Honour said he knew the umvergity authorities were at loggerheads with stabilisation on the question of salaries for the heads, ■ u I shall watch with interest to see if these appointed* are imported,” he said- M They have been advertising in the local papers.” That was largely a matter- of procedure, said Professor Tocker.
