POSSIBLE SERIOUS EFFECT OF U.S. LOAN ON EMPIRE TRADE
(Rec. 9 a.m.) LONDON, July. 13. The British Empire Producers’ Organisation will hold a council meeting on July 21 at which the possible serious effects of the American loan agreement on Empire food trade will be considered, says the ‘ Sunday Express.’ Food orders placed with Empire countries for fruit and canned fish are already being cancelled under Article 9, which compels any cuts in British purchases from America to be correspondingly made in purchases from sterling countries. British Government bulk buying committees overseas, as the dollars run out, have been warned to cut down purchases.
