SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the South African War Veterans’ Association was held on Thursday evening, there being an attendance of 20 members. Mr Alex Duncan, president, was in the chair.. One minufe’s silence was observed in honour of departed comrades. The annual report and balance sheet for the year 1946-1947 was adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted :—President, Mr Alex Duncan ; vice-presidents—Messrs E. C. Hazlett, T. Morton, L. R. Ellis, J. Sutherland, J. C. Rigby, A. R. Falconer, and D. Munroe; committee-y Messrs J. Coulling, J. Sealye, G. Aitken, J. Cairney, L. Meffan, J. McCracken, C. Cornish, H. Potter. C. Todd, J. Watson, A. Gardine, F. Stone, J. C. Rigby, T. McKellar, A, Maskew, and J. Sutherland Secretary and treasurer, Mr William Dobson; . auditor, Mr William Dunne. All. of the above were reelected. It was reported that the Benevolent Fund showed a credit balance of £l2O 11s 6d. • Mr Duncan reported t’»at the necessary arrangements had been made for the annual reunion to be held in the Crawford Loung on Saturday, May 31. Mr Munroe reported on the work of the Centennial Committee for the celebration in February, 1948, and requested that members do their utmost to subscribe to the funds.
