At the annual meeting, of the vfioard of Governors held on Thursday evening the chairman, Mr A. C. Cameron, presided, other members present being the,Revs. J. J. Cairney,' and 1 H. A. Mitchell, Messrs T, C. Ross, AV. S. Gilkison, C. G. Gray, R. D. B. Paterson, J. Fergus Ross, N. R. Macalister. Dr A. Borrie, and Mr J. Conolly (head master). : ; ■ • : Moving a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr Joseph McGeorge, the chairman -mentioned that Mr McGeorge - had joined the board at its inception and hadl , rendered outstanding service as convener of the Works. Committee until,his retireraent in 1944. . v Mr Canieron moved the adoption- of the annual accounts and balance sheet. There had been a large, increase- in 1946 of both' day. boys and '' boarders. The board felt that this satisfactory feature of the past year, combined with excellent work by the staff unde( the leadership of Mr Conolly, had brought the tone of" the school,life up to a high standard. Mr Cameron expressed appreciation of ' the ' help given by the John McGlashan and' Old Collegians’ Associations. Both these organisations were most actiyely and generously assisting;,the college .in. many ways. A great deal of work had ; been done, during, the; year. by way of enlarging the class rooms’and boarding establishment to meet the requirements. of the increasing school’, roll. The building of the nerw dormitory was well advanced. The head’ master- reported upon a good year of school work, remarking that there, had ' been an entire absence of any form of epidemic or accident, the general health of the boyS being excellent. Mr W, S. Gilkison, convener of the Finance Committee, reviewed in detail the financial position. While all round increases in the costs of running, a boarding school in these times caused-' concern to his committee, he ; anticipated that the coming year would show satisfactory results. The chairman, conveners of committees, Mr Conolly, and the college and house staffs were heartily thanked-for the work : done throughout the . past year. . Mr Cameron was re-elected chairman, with the Rev. H. A. Mitchell, as vice-chairman. The retiring members of the board, Messrs James Begg; W. g. Gilkison, A. R. Harris,. N. R. Macalister, and Dr. A. Borrie, were reelected. Mr D. Leslie, honorafy auditor, was thanked for his services and-re-elected for the ensuing year: ... ' At the monthly meeting, which followed. the tender of Messrs Fitzpatrick .Bros., for the filling in -of th® gully at the rear of the college, was accepted. • /;
