Heavy Casualties in Rioting in Indian Towns

(Rec. II a.m.) NEW DELHI. May 1 5. After another day of rioting in Lahore the casualties for the past 48 hours mounted to 22 killed and 35 injured. Six died from bullet wounds to-day when the police fired against mobs, and six others were seriously injured. The troubles continued in Peshawar, where Moslem women demonstrators held up an express for two hours while others picketed the courts and attempted .to persuade students to cease studying until Pakistan is assured. Lord Mountbatten received Mr Jinnah, who is also having talks with the Bengal Premier, Mr Suhrwardy, and the Maharajah of Patiala.
