The Australian, von Nida, and the Englishman, Norman Sutton, share the lead with 70 in .the:, first 'round- of the Dunlop: 2,000-goirieas golf; tournament being played oh the Hesketh course, at Southport. Other leaders are Max Faulkner_ (who beat von Nida by one stroke to win the same tournament last year), R. A. Whitcombe, C. H. Ward, 72; S. L. King, T. W. Spence. W. J. Martin, 73; W. Shanklaqd,- A.' Lees, R. Ha15a11.,74 5a11.,74 ; Dai Rees, 75. Von Nida had a - sensational, start, completing the, -first nine holes in 32. which was six under the scratch score.
