ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
CROSSING SMASH. Serious injuries were suffered by Robert Thompson, aged 74, of Invercargill, when the car lie was driving was struck by the south-bound express at the Inglewood level crossing yesterday afternoon. Thompson was admitted to the Southland Hospital, and his condition last night was reported to be serious. Mrs Thompson, who was also in the car, was uninjured.
