LABOUR NOMINEES FOR AVON SEAT

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. The names of six nominees for selection a 6 the official Labour candidate for the Avon seat, made vacant by the death of the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, will be considered by the national executive of the Labour Party during the week-end. An official announcement of the candidate is expected on Tuesday or Wednesday. The nominees are:—Nurse A. Mackwell, Mrs A. J. Jones, Messrs A. B. Grant, G. Manning, J. MathisOn, and A. G. Williams. The nominations were made at a special meeting in the Avon electorate on Thursday evening and at a meeting of the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee.
