BARTH SCHOOL

The first birthday party of the Barth School Assocation -was celebrated in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Hall on Wednesday.”' A very happy gathering of some 50 ex-pupils, presided over by Miss Irene Barth, enjoyed a bright programme of group-singing, piano duets, and vocal solos, competitions and impromptu charades. - The duettists and soloists were Mesdaines Elva Westland and Mollie Guy, Miriam Smyth and Mildred Hilliker (piano duets), Misses June McCall, Joy Stewart and Mr Colin Sparrow (songs). The competitions were won by Mr Colin Sparrow, Mrs Miriam Smyth, and Mrs Rae Somerville. Miss Beatrice Barth, patroness, thanked the committee for their work done during the year, and Miss Ellice Nieper was the recipient of a handsome book of composers for her excellent work as secretary. Supper was served, and a large birthday cake with one candle was cut and distributed.
