Newcastle Watersiders Want Sunday Football
(Rec. 11.50 a.m.) NEWCASTLE, April 29. The port of Newcastle is threatened with a 24-hour stoppage weekly if the Watersiders’ Rugby League team fails to secure grounds to play football on Sundays. The Newcastle City Council forbids Sunday play on council grounds. . . " If the city council refuses the people the right to pjay on Sundays, then we must consider taking our recreation during the week,” said the club secretary, Mr T. McCullum. ”If that course is taken the port will, be tied up while we take the form'of recreation to which we are entitled.”
