NEW SHIP FOR COLONIAL SERVICE.—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s new motor vessel Haparangi, after she had been launched at John Brown and Co’s yards at Clydebank by Mrs Jordan, wife of the High Commissioner, ill - W. J. Jordan. The Haparangi is a large vessel, her overall length being 561 ft her breadth 70ft. and her gross tonnage, 11,300. The total capacity of her insulated space is about 510,000 cubic feet, while her general cargo space totals 250,000 cubic feet. Two Diesel engines will enable the Haparangi to maintain a service speed of 17 knots under loaded conditions. Accommodation is of a high standard.
