KILLED IN CRASH
CREW OF N.Z. MOSQUITO BODIES FOUND IN AIRCRAFT SYDNEY, April 6. The bodies of two airmen were found in the - cabin of their crashed R.N.Z.A.F. Mosquito on Sydney Island, in the Gulf of Carpentaria. A launch, from nearby Momington Island, made the discovery while searching the wreckage, which was lying in' the shallows. The bodies of Wing-commander Hoare and Flying-officer Colvin, were in such a condition, that it seemed improbable that they survived the crash. They were carried ashore: and taken; -by launch to an R.AiA.F.,; Catalina, which flew them to Townsville for burial. V . , , The two dinghies which were sighted earlier by the Catalina must Have been washed ashore with the Other wreckage. The launch party found the plane badly damaged after apparently attempting a crash landing in shallow water.
[The R.N.Z.A.F. Mosquito was lost on a flight from Singapore to NeW Zealand, via Darwin, on March 26. The wreckage was located by a native last Tuesday.]
