LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Members of the provincial executive of the League of Mothers responsible for the organisation of the officers’ conference, held in the Pioneer -Women’s Hall on the morning of February 27, were well repaid for the wortk entailed by the enthusiasm shown in such an excellent attendance. The provincial president * (Mrs P, H. Jones) was in the chair, and extended a welcome to representatives from town and country branches, including* two of the three newly-formed branches at Invercargill. Mrs Jones said she felt that such a conference was a good start for the year’s work, and members would take to their branches ideas and inspirations for the tasks ahead. She was sure the members would receive a
deeper enthusiasm for the objects of the league, and for the sanctity of home life. The meeting divided into groups consisting of presidents and vice-pre-sidents, secretaries, assistants, and reporting secretaries, treasurers, magazine secretaries, and creche convenors, these groups being chaired by Mesdames Jones, Mclver, Matthews, McDonald, Galbraith, ana Harris respectively. In the. afternoon the usual provincial meeting was held. Mrs Jones expressed the thanks of the executive to all officers for work done in the past year. The annual church service was announced for April 13, in the Hanover Street Baptist Church, and a full representation was requested. Reports were received from Mrs McDonald (finance) and Mrs Davidson (supplies).
