TIMARU WOOL SALE. (P;A.) TIMARU, March 3.
Estimated to yield a cheque totalling nearly £1,000,000 the third wool sale at Timaru to-day was regarded as being particularly satisfactory from the growers’ point of view. There was an offering of 34,127 bales and strong purchasing power was maintained throughout. As is usual at the Timaru sales, there was a large quantity of merino and halfbred wools, which were keenly sought after, particularly by the local mills. Competition was well spread, the Continent taking a heavy weight, with the local firms on the market for super lots. Prices were firm on the Christchurch sale last week, the highest being 39d for binned super merino. Passings to the Joint Organisation were few and far between. The official range of prices was not available to-night.
