LEAKING GAS MAIN

TRAGEDY IN TWO WOMEN RILLED (Hoc. 11.35 a.in.) LONDON, Feb. 27. A 12in leaking gas main released a cloud of gas into houses in a street in Birmingham and killed two women. Two girls living in adjacent houses were first found'at 9 p.m. yesterday suffering from effects of gas. The police warned householders to open windows and put out all fires. Subsequently they visited other houses, and found an unconscious man in the first house and a dead woman in the nest hou.se Kocks at another brought no reply. The police broke in and found a man and his wife unconscious. The woman later died. Two men and a woman were found unconsciqhs in the sixth house. The police early/in the morning evacuated all the GO houses in the street. •
