Omitted, Profiteer was omitted from the list of nominations for the Novice aud Queensbury High-weight Handicaps on the second day of the Cromwell Jockey Club’s meeting.

Doubtful Starter. Tenor Royal is a doubtful starter in the Mosgiel Handicap at Wingatui to-morrow. He was off colour a short, time ago, and, although he worked well yesterday morning when sprinted over half a mile, his trainer, A. E. Didham, is not anxious to start -theRoyal Chief gelding.

Promising Debut. A young pacer with ability above the average is Worthy Dick. When having his first start at the Wellington meeting last Saturday some of the gear on his hopples broke, and despite this handicap lie remained at a level gait and finished fourth. Worthy Dick is engaged in the Taita Handicap at Hutt Park to-morrow. Winner at Trentham.

Yasda, who raced well at the Wellington Cup meeting for a win in the York Handicap and a second in the Metropolitan Handicap, will have his next race in the Waimana Handicap at Masterton to-morrow. He is likely to meet strongest opposition from Howe, who is also engaged in the big race earlier in the day. Failed to go Away.

When First Globe failed to leave the mark correctly in the Advance Handicap at Hutt Park last Saturday lie let down an army of supporters. Once on the journey he paced evenly, and made up a lot of ground without ever being a danger. Should’he leave the -mark correctly in the Belmont Handicap to-morrow, lie will take a lot of beating.

Weights and Times. In the Trial Handicap last Saturday Diarma carried 8.11, and won with something in hand in 1.29. .Over the same distance, Patmos also carried 8.11 when she won\the Maungatua Handicap in 1.27 4-s—l 4-ssec faster. In the Mosgiel Handicap to-morrow these two horses will meet with Diarma carrying 171 b less, and Patmos 81b more. The difference in the weights should be sufficient to bring them together.

Hurdle Candidate

Tamerlane, an entrant for the hurdle ; race at Wingatui to-morrow, has not raced since : the end of December. He has not been a very profitable proposition this season, as in nine starts one. second placing was his best effort. The placing was in the Spreydon Hurdles, in which Beneve beat him : by a head at the Graud National meeting. Tamerlane, an excellent. juniper,. is trained f at Wingatui by G. A. Fielding. Hack Prospect.

Wild Ribbon, a newcomer engaged in the jSeveil-furlong ' hack race at i Wingatui to-morrow, is a fonr-year-6ld mare by Wild Chase from Abigail.-, ,ln three starts this season.she.has,finished first, -fourth, and second. . Wild Ribbon’s most recent start was in the Waitaki Hack Handicap at Oamaru on: January 2. In that event she was. well up all the way, and was beaten by half a length by Ever Rdldy. The time for the seven furlongs was 1.26 3-5. Knocked Himself. :

Agenda worked well at Wingatui yes- ; terday morning, and he may be capable of an improved showing in the Dominion Handicap to-morrow; Before coming to Wingatui he had not been asked to gallop round a turn, and this may have accounted for his knocking himself during the race last Saturday. After being slow away he showed, brilliant speed for two furlongs to race up to the leaders. He then dropped back, and it is thought that the knock may have been responsible. .: • . : In Great Order.

When Great Coon is taken through to Wellington Ring Chief will accompany him’as a. travelling companion. The two horses, have always been together, and when separated Great Coon, does not do well. He is in great order at the present time, and over his favourite distance-—a mile—he promises to give a good account of himself in the Thompson Handicap. He may lack the size and the brilliance of some of his North Island opponents;, but his gameness and consistency .will stand to him. ■ ~ ' '

Winner on New year’s Day. Stagestruc.k had his last win 'at Wyndham on New Year’s Day. After being; one of the pacemakers all the way he hung on well in a hard finish.--to beat Desert Girl by a neck, with Luminous Knight a head away third. He h&s a furlong farther to go in the, Mosgiel Hack Handicap to-morrow, and the extra distance may trouble him.. •

First Start in Open Company. Armont. who distinguished himself as a staying hack above the , average by some good performances last month, : is down to make his first appearance in open company at the. ißariks Peninsula meeting on Saturday. Weighted at 7.13 lie may be capable of making A a successful first .appearance-in the higher grade if lie recovers from the soreness which troubled him after galloping yesterday.
