ARMED GUARDS ON ALERT DURING POLAND ELECTIONS.— Armed Polish soldiers as they guarded the entrance to the Warsaw headquarters of the Polish Workers’ Party during that country’s firf?t General Election in post-war Poland. . The Government Bloc won a decisive majority over the Peasant Party—327 of 372 seats. Stanislaw Mikolajczyk, leader of the Peasant Party, demanded that the elections be voided, and sought to have the 27 newly-elected Peasant Party members boycott the new Parliament.
