ROYAL AMNESTY FOR PRISONERS
PRETORIA, February 19. All prisoners in South African gaols not serving indeterminate sentences will benefit under a Royal Amnesty which will come into effect on Friday, when his Majesty will open the new session of Parliament. Several thousand prisoners will be granted remission of a-quarter of their sentences, which, combined with the normal remission for good behaviour, means that the sentences will be reduced hv half.
