STANDARDISATION OF ARMS
PROPOSAL FOR AMERICAN NATIONS (Rec. 10.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, February 16. The Inter-American Defence Board announced that recommendations for the standardisation of the land, sea, and air forces of the Americas have been submitted for the consideration of 21 American republics. The board, suggests that Latin American nations re-equip their armed . forces along United States lines. The standardise tion of arms programme fits into the' plans for a military defence pact which is scheduled to be written at the twicepostponed conference of Foreign Ministers at Rio de Janeiro, which General Marshall hopes will now be held this J The board was established in 194° and consists of representatives of all the American nations.
