CANADIAN INTEREST
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 16. A distinguished Canadian surgeon, Dr Hugh Maclean, arrived at Auckland by the Pan-American Clipper for a three months’ visit to the Dominion. He is accompanied by Airs Maclean.
Two main reasons for his visit were given by Dr Alaclean. He said he had i > heard so much about New Zealand from American servicemen and other* that he felt he must see the Dominion for himself, and the second reason was that, he wished to investigate New Zealand’s State medical services. “It., is breaking new ground, and I want to investigate its successes and its failures, if any,” he said. “In addition, the Premier of Saskatchewan, Air Doug- i las, who is a friend of mine, is interested in New Zealand’s medical services, and I will report to him in an unofficial way.” , A 'New Zealander who is making a name for himself in America and who , is becoming a well-known, surgeon., was mentioned by Dr Alaclean. He is Dr H. P. Alexander, whose parents live at Napier. He is now in Canada, in the course of a world tour to survey the prospects of obtaining raw materials for chemicals and synthetics.
