AROHERS’ THEORY DISPROVED
BULLETS STILL MORE DEADLY BUFFALO VICTIMS OF TEST (Rec. 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 16. Despite a storm of protests from animal lovers, archers from seven states held a buffalo shoot at Rawlins, Wyoming, in an effort to prove tlieii theory that an arrow from a 601 b bo;v would kill as surely as a bullet from a big-game rifle. The theory, however, was disproved, for the buffaloes had to be finished off witli bullets. They were corralled and then forced to run the gauntlet of 11 archers. The first beast, after a twomile running fight with three arrows embedded in its belly, was shot dead. The next three were also killed by riflemen to prevent prolonged ingThe group which sponsored the event was almost unanimous that similar shoots were unlikely to be held.
