MANCHESTER MURDERER

CONFESSION BY ANOTHER MAN APPEAL CASE ADJOURNED (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 27. When the appeal of Walter Graham Rowland, who was sentenced to death for the murder of Olive Balchin in Manchester, came before the Court of Criminal Appeal, the appellant’s counsel said it seemed that David John Ware, who was serving a sentence in Liverpool Prison, had fully confessed to Miss Balchin’s murder. Ware, in a statement to the police on January 24, described in considerable detail the way he murdered the woman. It might be necessary to obtain permission to call Ware and investigate the matter more fully. The appeal was' adjourned for a fortnight.
