British-French Alliance
(Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 15. The French GoA/ernment spokesman stated that M. Blum and Mr Attlee in London reached agreement to negotiate a BritishFrench alliance at the earliest opportunity, says the British United Press’s Paris correspondent. The spokesman added: “ M. Blnm’s talks in London can be regarded merely as a. psychological start toAvards a British-French alliance and closer economic and political co-operation. M.
Complete Agreement Reported
Blum and the French Government regard it as a promising start. We are well satisfied with the results: The ‘ Evening Standard ’ says the talks have been completely successful, it is agreed. that a British-French alliance is desirable, and that closer economic cooperation between the countries is necessary. They also discussed coal . exports from the Rhur to France . and fusion of the French ’ and British zones in Germany.
