TEN YEARS IN GAOL
CAREER OF FRAUD (P.A.) ' GISBORNE, Jan. 16. A total of nine months’ imprisonment was imposed in the Magistrate’s Court on Alfred Sydney Kerr (42), a labourer, on nine charges of false pretences involving , offers to sell quantities of roofing iron. The’ police prosecutor said the accused had 71 convictions against, him. In 20 years lie', had spent 10 years in gaol in periods .ranging from 15 months to as many days. The accused had committed frauds in towns between Timaru and Auckland.
