Lepviikmann, who retains his title for another year, is an Estonian by birth, and learned the game in that country. He improved liis play considerably during nine years’ residence in Rotterdam, and was an interested spectator of the game between Dr Emve and the late Dr Alekhine for the- world’s championship. The runner-up takes second place for the second time. Steele is a young Wellington player of great promise, who will in succeeding congresses he an even more powerful contender for the title.
