RIOTS IN BOMBAY
POLICE FORCED TO FIRE WEEK'S CURFEW IMPOSED (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 9. Police at' Bombay opened fire several times in the mill area of North Bombay to quell an outbreak of communal rioting. A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed for a week. Police armed with rifles and fixed bayonets are patrolling the area. The trouble arose after the killing of two social workers, one a caste Hindu, the other a scheduled caste leader. A total of 107 persons was injured, including five shot, 25 stabbed, ana 25 funeral marchers struck by a lorry whose driver panicked.
