THE ROAD CODE

NEW EDITION PUBLISHED _ A copy has been received of the revised ‘ Road Code,’ which is now being issued to local authorities and traffic inspectors for distribution to applicants for drivers’ licenses, and to any other persons who wish to have a copy. This well-presented booklet gives information and advice on everyday situations which confront the road user, whether these are points covered by law or by the rules of common sense and experience. The table of contents shows special sections of interest to pedestrians, to cyclists, to motor vehicle drivers, and to drivers of horse-drawn vehicles. There is also an appendix with headings such as “Alcohol and the Driver a very sound summary of the pros and cons of this controversial subject—“ Traffic Signs and Signals,” including illustrations of all, the recognised symbols, and a “ summary of the Traffic (Regulations, 1936.” The publication is of particular value at the present time in view of the increase m road hazards accompanying the return of traffic to pre-war density, and the traffic authorities stress, how important it is that every road user be aware of Hie many points of conduct in traffic that make for road safety.
