INTENSE UNION ACTIVITY
EARLY DEVELOPMENTS POSSIBLE MEN RESUME WDRK (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7.' Intense trade union activity developed in Auckland to-day around the national waterfront dispute, indicating the possibility of early developments. Delegates from a number of unions conferred with * the executvie of the . Auckland branch of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union following a ■ stop-work meeting of watersiders this morning. The executive of the Auckland Trades Council will further consider the dispute at a special meeting < this afternoon, and a number of unions are expected to consider their attitude this week. The national president of the Watersiders’ Union, Mr H. Barnes, addressed this morning’s stop-work meeting, but would make, no statement concerning the resolution passed. , However, it is, understood that the men decided unanimously that work proceed meantime, with the men refusing overtime.
