SEA CADET CORPS

ANNUAL TRAINING COURSES The Otago Navy League Sea Cadet Corps will be represented by four officers and 40 cadets at the annual combined training courses of the four new units.

The contingent will leave Dunedin on January 10, and 15 cadets will travel to H.M.N-Z.S. Tamaki at Auckland for specialist training, while 25 cadets will undergo a 14-day course at the training barracks on Quail Island, Lyttelton. The Quail Island course will be the largest in the history of the corps in New Zealand, and there will be a complement of 10 officers and 100 sea cadets under the command of Lieu-tenant-commander G. Robb, commanding officer of the Otago Division of the corps. The Otago draft to Auckland, under the command of Sub-lieutenant N. Roydhouse, will comprise part of a complement of four officers and 60 sea cadets to undergo a course of special naval training on H.M.N.Z.S. Tamaki. The value of these courses to tfie country is recognised by the Government and the New Zealand Naval Board, which will meet transport and billeting expenses, while all other expenses will be borne by the branches of the New Zealand Navy League.
