APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTIVE CHIEFS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dbcember 5, Further appointments to the New Zealand National Airways Corporation were announced to-day by the chairman, Sir Leonard Isitt. The appointments were those of cjjief accountant, chief engineer, operations manager, training supervisor, and secretary to the Board,

Mr D. E. Foley, who lias been appointed chief accountant, was seconded to Union Airways Ltd. eight years ago in a similar capacity after years of executive and acepuntancy experience with the Union Steam Ship Co. Ltd. He.was responsible for the accounting for both Unions Airways and Tasman Empire Airways. Mr L. Maugham, the Corporation’s new chief engineer, has been chief engineer for Union Airways since its inception. Mr A. G. Gerrand, who has been appointed operations manager, was.an original pilot commander of the Union Airways’ service, and before the outbreak of war he held the position of service manager. He saw service with the R.N.Z.A.F. and the R.A.F. Transport Command, and returned to New Zealand last year to become operations manager of Union Airway's.

Mr H. C. Walker, who has been'appointed training supervisor, has been a pilot commander in Union Airways for the past 10 years. After long service in the R.N.Z.A.F., he rose to the rank of wing commander, and received an American decoration for service in the Pacific. Mr Walker was the pilot who accompanied the late Squadron-leader H. C. McGregor in the Hawk in the Macßobertson Centenary England-Melbourne air race. The new secretary to the Board, Wing-commander K. <T- Crichton, recently returned from England, where he was senior' administration officer at R.N.Z.A.F. Headquarters in London.
