FRANCE’S RECOVERY ENDANGERED
NEW YORK, November 23. M. Herve Alphand, French DirectorGeneral of Economic Affairs/ in a speech, said that the American coal strike endangers the French recovery. “ France needs 1,000,000 tons of coking coal monthly from the United States, but in view of the uncertainty of American production, it may be impossible to meet our minimum requirements in 1947. Thus France’s capacity to export may be reduced and the means of fighting monetary • inflation paralysed.” , ' ■
