CAR STRIKES POLE
MATERNITY PATIENT INJURED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. A car taking a woman from North Auckland to an Auckland suburban maternity hospital struck a power pole several miles from its destination, and the prospective maternity patient suffered a fractured thigh. Her husband, who was alsb a passenger, received concussion and abrasions.
The woman was Mrs (Rita Kelsey Hill, aged 35, of Hakaru, North Auckland, and her husband is Edward Russell Hill, aged 41, a farmer. The car skidded in ■ loose gravel at a bend in the road, smashing into a pole, which broke in half,, one section [penetrating the windscreen between the driver and Mrs Hill, who was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition is serious.
