Waipori Electric Scheme Extensions Officially Opened Last Wednesday
EDGAR E. STARK WRIDGE OFF lOIALLY OPENED.—The Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) cutting the tape during the ceremony at the Edgar E. Stark Bridge, which .spans the Mahinerangi Dam. On the left of the picture is the city electrical engineer (Mr 0. T. Edgar), and on the extreme right, in the foreground, is Cr L. M. Wright (chairman of the council’s Electricity Committee). The new bridge was made necessary by the raising of the dam to a height of 110 ft, the former height being 67ft.' The increased storage capacity of Lake Mahinerangi will provide greater hydro-electric resources at Waipori. Cost of the additional height was £67,000. '_ . . .
