WEIGHT LIFTING
OTAGO CLUB CONTEST The Otago Weight Lifting Club conducted the last of the handicap series for the year on the three Olympic lifts for the Frank Massetti Cup. Fifteen weight-trainers competed for the trophy, and an interested gathering saw some excellent lifting. The competition resulted in a win for A. Whitton, with L. Monroe second and D. Freeman third. On the count back for the greatest improvement for the year the winner of the Massetti Cup was found in I). Alexander. Other placings ...were A. .Whitton (second) and A. Shaw (third). It is interesting to., note the gains made by some of the members. Doug. Alexander increased his total by 601 b, and A. Whitton in two months . increased his bodvweight 51b and his lifting total 501 b. All others made gains' of around 301 b, lack of training in all cases preventing larger increases.
