AUXILIARY AIR SQUADRONS
IMPORTANT DEFENCE ADJUNCT AUCKLAND MOVE FOR ESTABLISHMENT (P.A.) • AUCKLAND, Nov. 13. . ■ \ A move is being made toward the establishment of auxiliary squadrons of the R.N.Z.A.F. The Auckland branch of the Air Force Association will approach the Minister of Defence for permission to establish auxiliary squadrons from each branch of the Air Force Association. The reasons for the move are the importance pf auxiliary squadrons in defence: preventing wastage of surplus aircraft in the Dominion; the proper exploitation of the experience of war-flying personnel now posted in reserve. ’ V It is proposed that the entire organisation be known as the R.N.Z.A.F. auxiliary, and be 1 under the.jurisdiction of the Air Department, Wellington. The squadrons would be known b.v a serial number, followed.by the name of the city, town, or district concerned. The Auckland Air Force Association considers the present system of private control of flying too costly for the majority of reservists.
