—; TOUR BY AUSTRALIANS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. It was announced at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association to-day that a team, probably consisting of . Ifour Australian golfers with a manager, would visit New Zealand next season. The Australians wanted to play in the national championships, against provincial representatives, and against a New Zealand team. New Zealand would return the visit the following season. Concern at “ the poor lot ” of professional golfers in New Zealand ’was expressed by Mr G. P. Roberts, of Hutt. He suggested that clubs might increase their subscriptions to offer worth-while retainers to professionals. The position of the New Zealand professional was a precarious one. Other speakers suggested high monetary prizes for tournaments, and stressed the need for coaching young players.
