R.A.F. PREDICAMENT

GROUND STAFF FAR BELOW NEEDS

LONDON, November 4.

The R.A.F., through extensive demobilisation mid a disappointing rate of recruitment, is in danger of , being “ grounded ” by shortage of personnel capable of servicing the planes, says the ‘ Daily Herald’s ’ aviation writer. The grave dearth of ground staff was graphically illustrated - when a - “ striking force ”, of Beaufighters and Mosquitoes, which was ■ detailed yesterday to make an exercise' attack on the Home Fleet returning from the Channel, had a total strength of nine planes. They were all that could be raised from the two remaining “strike” squadrons which would ''-normally have sent 12 planes each on such a mission.
