BLAZING BITUMEN

BIG FIRE IN MANCHESTER

LONDON, Nov. >3. Seven fire engines at_ Trafiord Park last night fought the biggest fire ever seen in the Manchester area. The firemen had to spray a lake of blazing bitumen 100yds long and 75yds wide, as a result of a fire in a bonding warehouse holding barrels of bitumen.. The firemen had to stand knee deep in the bitumen as the barrels burnt. It is estimated that it will be two days before they can completely subdue the blaze.
