PRODUCTION OF POOR QUALITY SHORTS DEPLORED (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent.) (Rec. 10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 1. The_ British Cinematograph Films Council, in its annual report, recommends that the production of more British films of first-feature quality should be assisted by special Government priorities. It also noted “ with disquiet ” the increasing number of short British films of inferior quality, which are likely to damage British film prestige abroad, and recommended that legislation be introduced to prevent the export of such films.
