RESIDENTS RETURN TO HOMES

ONLY FEW ABNORMALLY HIGH WAVES (Rec. noon.) » NEW YORK, Nov. 1. The United Press Honolulu correspondent reports that the tidal wave had not materialised by the expected hour, and beach residents began to re-

turn from the hills to their homes. There were only a few abnormally high waves. . . , : Geodetic survey officials in Washington estimated that the sidal wave will take about five hours to reach Oahu. The Georgetown University seismograph recorded tremors for 90 minutes. The earthquake centre is estimated to be 2j200 miles from Seattle, thus approximately in the same area as the subterranean ’quake in the Aleutian Deep in the Gulf of Alaska which caused the April tidal wave.
