—Ministerial. — The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, arrived by road from the north yesterday afternoon. He will speak at a public meeting in the Town Hall this evening, and will leave late to-morrow morning for, Gore, where he is to give another address to-morrow night. At Balclutha he will, inspect the flood damage. .. His ..election tour will include Invercargill, Oamaru, Waimate, Ashburton. and Christchurch, at which city he will speak on October 29. ■ The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, was engaged in departmental business at the .Ministerial rooms on Saturday. He will be present at the Prime Minister’s meeting in the Town Hall to-night. Mr A. C. Swanson, resident engineer to the, Otago Harbour Board,, left for Wellington by the express this mornin° p . . Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., left this morning for Nelso'n to attend a. conference of South Island local bodies. Professor V. E. Galway returned from Wellington by. the express on Saturday after attending a session of the Academic Board of the University of New Zealand. Tributes to the loyal and valuable services given to the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club over a long period by the late Mr C. W. Sundstrum, who had been one - of the club’s most noted commodores, were paid at the annual meeting of the club on Saturday afternoon, and members observed a period of silence as a tribute to his memory. The Rev. K. D. Andrews-Baxter, vicar of St. Thomas’s parish, Newtown, since 1942, has been appointed vicar of St. Mary’s parish, Mornington. It is expected that lie will take up his new duties in the new year. Dr P. S. do Q. Cabot, former All Black and captain of; the Otago University team in 1926, has returned ,to Los Angeles after a. flying, visit- with his family to England and Scotland, where he met . many O.tago medical graduates. During the war Dr Cabot founded and was president of the Anzac Club in Boston, which was well known to many Anzac airmen and sailors. Dr Cabot is now personnel research director of the United Rexall Drug. Company. In connection with his former clinical work in ' Boston, he is the author of a forthcoming volume on juvenile delinquency. Passengers who sailed from Port Chalmers by the Brisbane Star on Saturday for London via Panama were Mr and Mrs L. A. Bevernage (Belgium), Mr G. A. Myers, Miss I. M. / R. Cowan, Mr and Mrs N. J. A Press Association message from Sydney states that Miss Ncjla'Luxford has left Sydney by air for New, Guinea to gather material for lectures in the United States. In Australia she has ■ been officially welcomed at Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. She j will fly to New Zealand on November 11, and after visiting relatives at Hastings and Palmerston North, will tour the country-as the guest of the: New Zealand Government.
