IMMIGRANTS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —So I am afflicted by some unknown mental disease and a person of Nazi mentality. Perhaps your misguided correspondent “ Friend ” has never head the term Imperial preference, or read of the many thousands of prospective British immigrants who desire to settle in this country. • Presumably he wishes to exclude, these people in favour of Central Europeans who have an entirely different mental and political outlook from the people °/ Empire. He has never heard that this country could support many thousands more in industry and on the land. Urgently needed, are skilled tradesmen from England, who will be brought here as soon as accommodation is available. When our initial post-war troubles are over many more will be able to come, yet “ Friend ” would sooner have foreigners. Surelv someone else is afllicted with this unknown mental disease, or else he has a strange manner of patriotism. Perhaps “Friend” would also like the Government to throw this country open to the millions of East Asia as well, or perhaps these people are “ less worthy ” ? I completely fail to see why Zionists and other political trouble-makers should be allowed into this country in preference to British folk. The Jews are gradually and violently endeavouring to force the
Arabs out of Palestine, with disastrous and murderous results. They are causing serious disruptions in America and other, countries, but, completely ignoring these facts, “ Friend ” insists that we should allow this same element into our land of peace' atid prosperity. Call me -Nazi, Communist, or whatever “ Friend ’’ likes, I will always advocate that New Zealand is a British country, and I pray God always will be, in spite of misguided societies and others who think otherwise.—L am, etc., Satin. : ' October 18.
