WAKARI BUS FARES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The tramway department is to be congratulated oif putting on a workers’ bus (from Jacobs’s Corner at about 4.40 p.m. Several buses leave from this point each day,, charging fid for the up trip, but for the workers the charge is 7tJ.. ; I wonder if the Price Tribunal has approved of this charge, whichmust be a .world’s record for a mile ride. If this is not another clerical error, and the tramway department insists on charging this outrageous price for the most frightful and uncomfortable ride imaginable, perhaps the traffic inspectors would see that the load is kept, down below 100 passengers. It would be quite a change to get both feet on the floor of the bus, instead of having to stand on one leg like a fowl- Have we to wait for a bad.smash, which must come'under present conditions, before something is done about overloading? The so-called concession tickets for passengers from Bunting's Corner cost the same' per ride as ; a cash fare. Is the M.P. for our electordte''gomg.*to;do^:anything about getting our fares', down to a reasonable price instead of being put up?—l am; etc., October 18. v Refund.
