NORTHERN FOOTBALL CLUB
WELCOME HOME SOCIAL The annual smoke concert of the Northern Association Football Club was held ip the North-east Valley Bowling Club pavilion on Saturday evening, There was a large attendance of members and visitors, and the chair was occupied* by the president of the club, Mr G. Anderson. The function took the form of -a welcome home to members of the club who had served with the forces, and in his opening remarks the chairman said that HO members had been in uniform, and that nine had not returned. The club had had a good season, continued Mr Anderson, the first grade team being runners-up in the senior competition, while the second and fourth grade teams had won their competitions comfortably. During the evening items were presented by Messrs S. Clarke (accordion solos), G. McKersey (songs), G. Heatherington (cornet solos), and R. Wilson (sleight of hand). The toast list was as follows:—” The King,” “ Returned Members ” (Mr H. Bunn —Mr J. Anderson), “ Fallen (Members ” (Mr G. Anderson), “ Otago Football Association ” (Mr J. 0Rigby—Mr E. L. Hope), “Otago Referees’ Club ” (Mr R. McLean, jun,, —Mr P. George), “ The Press,” and “The Artists ” (Mr F. E^in'g).
