At the monthly social afternoon of the Theosophical Women’s Association Mr G e °ffrey Godson spoke on the influence of colour on health, in decoration, aud dress. Mr Alf. Pettitt contributed a piano solo and accompanied Miss Crawford in two songs. The Anderson’s Bay Ladies’ Bowling Club opened the season on Tuesday, when a very enjoyable afternoon was spent, pairs being played. The winners were Mesdames Martin. McAllen, Cantrell, and Miss Partridge. The president, Mrs F, G. Hall, entertained the members to afternoon tea. A meeting of the Green Island Institute was held on Tuesday, -Mrs Moore presiding; Miss Walker gave an account of business transacted at the Mid-Otago Federation meeting. Mrs Dryden and Master Dryden sang a Vocal.duet and Mr Eaton gave a talk on cultivating polyanthus. On Tuesday the Tainui Croquet Club held its opening day, when the president, Miss Black, welcomed a large gathering of members and friends. After Mrs Rhodes had run the first hoop and declared the lawns open, afternoon tea was served in the pavilion. Competitions were then
played on the lawns, the winners being Mesdames Gray, Melville. and McGregor. The annual meeting of the bridge circle of the Otago Women’s Club was held last Wednesday. Mrs G. W, Reid, the chairwoman, moved the adoption of the report, which was carried, Tlio election of. office-bearers resulted as follows Mrs G. F. McKellar; vice-chairwoman, Miss Tnyler; secretary, Miss Neil; committee— Mesdames F. W, Parker, W. R. Sinclair, C. G. Shand, J. Hamer, G. W. Reid, A G. Paterson, M. H. Alexander, S. H. Howitb, I. Cowie, O. J. Begg, Misses L. Smith, A. Andrew, The Leith Croquet Club held its opening function on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Knewstubb, president, welcomed a large number of guests, including Mrs- president of the 0.C.A.. Mr and Mrs Hopkins, president of the Bowling Club, and Mrs Stinson, representing the Ladies Bowling Club. Mrs McGregor declared the season open and wished tho club every success. Competitions were held indoors owing to adverse weather, conditions, the winners being Mrs Baker, Mrs Walker, and Miss Manson,
