PORT CHALMERS CLUB OPINING The opening of the Queen’s Drive Rowing Club attracted a large crowd at Port Chalmers on Saturday afternoon. Mr R. Paris, president of the club, in declaring the season open, urged the returned men to join the club again as the membership was low. The club captain, Mr A. Cook, in proposing the toast of sister clubs, referred to the large number of representatives of sister clubs present. Visiting representatives replied. Mr G. Thorn, representing the Otago Rowing Club, said that, although Queen’s Drive had closed dowh during the war, there wa6 no reason why the club should not come into its own again. He had been associated with tne club for 10 years,, during which he had seen it become the premier club on the harbour in spite of a membership of 10 active members at the time. Mr F. W. Eggers, president of the. Otago Rowing Association, Mr C. But-; terfield, for Dunedin Regatta Committee, and Mr J. Solomon, for Port Chalmers Regatta Committee, also spoke.
