R.I.P.
In anything but loving memory of the 1 Evening Star weather forecaster, who was summarily executed on an improvised gallows on the ‘ Star ’ roof this morning, his ashes > being subsequently dispersed among the snowflakes he had said would not fall this year. The executioner was Russell, of 4ZB, who carried < out his duties with enthusiasm, carolling merrily, * Out in the Cold, Cold Snow, . and ‘ The Rustle of Spring.’ The ‘ Star ’ acknowledges numerous telegrams received from as far afield as Christchurch, and the interest displayed 1 by the majority of its 50,000 readers, who all but put the telephones ■ out of commission, desiring to know if -this paper 'saw what they saw. The answer’s snow! But—-the ‘Star’ will shine again..
