SUGGESTION ABANDONED

MEMORIAL TO PAST STAFFS Because of the unexpectedly large number of names, the Otago High Schools .Board, at its monthly meeting on Thursday, decided to abandon the suggestion that memorial plates be provided at the various schools listing past staff members. The secretary submitted to the meeting a volume containing the names of all teachers who had served at the Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools, and the chairman (Mr W. R. Brugh) congratulated him on the completion of the task of compilation, which had obviously been formidable. It was decided that the dates of the 1947 terms should be February 3-May 9, May. 27-August 22, and September 16-December 12. The rector of the Otago Boys’ High School, Air H. P. Kidson, was granted permission to purchase a film strip projector. Approval was received for painting concrete channelling at the King’s High School. The Director of Education advised that a report from the Laboratory Planning Committee regarding the board’s proposals for a compacted laboratory block at King’s High School was "being awaited, and that the proposals were being held over pending this report. Messrs A. J. Gilmore and W. W. Bridgman were promoted to Grade V. positions on the Otago Boys’ High School staff. The following were appointed to Grade IV. positions at the Otago*Girls’ High School: —Miss Lois C. Voller, Miss Annette Burbudge, and Miss Betty I Sparrow.
