Who Knows was the first to show out, but at the end of two furlongs Sure Maid had taken charge from Mack Sure, Who Knows, Barbara Woods, Lucky Bill, and Percy Yolo. The remainder of the runners were too far back to have a chance at this stage. With six furlongs to go Percy Volo began a strong run, whicli took him into the lead goiim past the post. 1 Going down' the back for the fast time, Sure Maid was shading Percy Volo, with Mack Sure, Who Knows, and Lucky Bill well clear of the remainder. Sure Maid was first into the straight and drew' away for an easy , win.” Lucky Bill four lengths away second, with Who Knows half a length back third. Mack Sure was fourth, followed by Percy Volo. With the exception of Volo’s Victory, Frank Scott' and Mae Wynne, who were all slow to move, the field settled down quickly, with Real Nugget showing the way to Convincer. Volo’s Victory raced round the field to take the lead with one and a-half miles to go. He was closely attended by Lord "Peterson. Ren! Nugget, Convincer, Janet Hall, and Notus, with Frank Scott and Mae Wynne bringing up the rear. The order was unchanged until the field turned into the back straight for the lastf time. At this stage Lord Peterson streaked into the lead, with Convincer following him about three lengths back. Frank Scott broke up with two furlongs to go when he was in third, position. Convincer and Lord Peterson fought out a sterling finish, with the former gaining the verdict hy half a head. Mae Wynne finished strongly in third place, two le”‘ away, with ‘Janet Hall next. Times: 4.31, 4.30 1-5, and 4.30. Convincer'carried £203 10s and £430 10s. Lord Peterson £761 10s and £806., and Mae Wynne £590 and £698 10s. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP. £7OO. Clas« 4.36.
