FREE MEDICAL SERVICES
FAB DISTANT IN AUSTRALIA NS CONCRETE PLANS (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 19. The free medical services envisaged under the referendum were from 10 to 15 years distant, said the Minister of Health and Social Services, Senator McKenna. Plans at the moment were almost non-existent. The Commonwealth, he said, had to face shortages of materials, equipment, and personnel, and the difficulty oi agreeing on the doctors’ payments. The medical scheme would involve an institute for training doctors, nurses, and administrators, pathological laboratories, X-ray, maternity, gynaecological and T.B. hospitals, research institutes, the manufacture, sale, and distribution of medical equipment, and the provision of specialist services.
